Remove toothpicks and let everything come together. Put greased barrel back in the stock channel. THIS IS A MUST DO. So the barrel channel doesn't get compressed/narrowed/squished by a vise or clamps alone. Bind tightly with a wrap of small rubber hose, electrical tape, etc. that won't stick to wood glue.They shoot most accuretly if the clearance is .003 or less. That's a pretty snug fit and can be pretty hard to load in a fouled bore. Yesterday I was fortunate enough to kill a nice buck with my .54 flintlock using a .530 round ball with a .018 patch over 80 grains of Swiss FFG at about 60 yards.. Although I posted the fact I was blessed with success, I neglected to comment on the sheer power displayed by the round ball I shot.I start with potassium chlorate, sulfur and antimony trisulfide. Then I use a scale that has very fine measurement and also measures in pretty much all different units but I use grains. I start by measuring out 47 grains of the chlorate, 30 grains of the antimony and 21 grains of the sulfur and dump them together in a little glass dish.Jan 28, 2023. #3.
